The 5th Lilac Cup Volleyball Tournament, hosted by the Harbin Institute of Technology Canada Alumni Association and title-sponsored by Sunshine School, was successfully held on April 19–20, 2025, at the Markham Pan Am Centre. The event also received strong support from all levels of government, sponsors, alumni associations, media, volunteers, and volleyball enthusiasts.
This year’s Sunshine School 5th Lilac Cup Volleyball Tournament in Canada featured two key differences from previous editions. First, a “Recreational Volleyball” (Qipaiqiu) category was added. Second, the competition was divided into two separate series: one for single-university teams and another for joint teams. The new format is expected to bring even more enjoyment to all participating teams.
A total of 33 high-level teams, formed by 53 Chinese university alumni associations in Canada, participated in the volleyball tournament.
After two days of intense competition, the champions, runners-up, and third-place winners of each group were decided.
- In the Independent University Group on April 19, Taishan Panshi Television University won the championship, Southeast University took second place, and Tianjin University claimed third place.
- In the Joint University Group on April 20, the Harbin Institute of Technology / Harbin Institute of Physical Education Joint Team won the gold medal, Nankai University / Hainan Normal University Joint Team took silver, and Dalian University of Technology / Shandong University Joint Team earned bronze.
