The “2020 Lunar New Year Cup Chinese College Alumni Association Indoor Football Tournament” hosted by the Canadian Alumni Association of Huaqiao University ended successfully after two days of competition in Toronto. Shandong University/Shenyang University of Technology/Dalian Maritime University formed a joint team that defeated the Beijing University of Technology team in a penalty shootout and won the championship.
This year’s Lunar New Year Cup is the second college alumni association football match. The first is jointly sponsored by Nankai University and Dalian University of Technology. The Cup is a winter indoor 8-a-side competition, and each team has at least one female player on the court in the preliminaries. 24 teams completed 84 games in two days. The Markham Sports Dome, the competition venue, brings

After 48 games before January 4, the top 16 came to the fore. In the two-day competition, the three-college team of Shandong University/Shenyang University of Technology/Dalian Maritime University eliminated the previous champion Dalian University of Technology team 2:0, and then beat Beijing Posts and Telecommunications/Beijing Institute of Technology 1-0. , In the semi-finals, beat
Nanjing University/National University of Defense Technology 3-0 to advance to the final.
The Beijing University of Technology team first defeated North China University/Qingdao University United team 5:1, then defeated Tianjin
University/Tianjin Normal University United team 3:1, and was eliminated with difficulty 2:1 in the semifinals. The Chinese University of Science and Technology/Harbin Institute of Engineering team also entered the finals.
In the finals, both teams played their own characteristics. Shandong University/Shenyang University of Technology/Dalian Maritime College is completely authentic Shandong style, while Beijing University of Technology is the little Kuai Ling familiar to old Beijing. The powerful offensive Beijing University of Technology team controlled the situation on the field, and the United team chose a defense that it was better at. The Lunar New Year Cup College Alumni Association Football Game is the most distinctive and influential large-scale Chinese Football Cup in Toronto’s Chinese community. Although the total age of the 8 members of each team is around 400 years old, smooth cooperation and wonderful individual
performances can still be seen in the game. Even the enthusiastic alumni who are not on the stage are holding long guns and short cannons, leaving behind the beautiful moments of alumni’s heroism.
