After two consecutive days of intense competition on the March 24th and 25th, the 2018 Chinese University Toronto Alumni Association A friendly Siyuan Cup badminton match ended on the 25th at the EPIC Badminton Stadium in Toronto.
This competition was initiated and hosted by the Toronto Alumni Association of Xi’an Jiaotong University and sponsored by Hengtong Financial. At the opening ceremony, Cheng Bin introduced that the purpose of hosting the first friendly badminton match is to use badminton as an interactive carrier to promote more Chinese college graduates who live in the Greater Toronto Area to establish corresponding alumni associations to help More alumni find “homes”; at the same time, promote exchanges and unity among alumni associations in the Greater Toronto Area; reflect the spirit of unity, forge ahead, and positive progress among new Chinese immigrants; encourage and drive more Chinese to participate in physical exercises ; Sharing a healthy and happy amateur life. Cheng Bin said that 56 teams composed of Toronto Alumni Associations of Chinese universities, their sparring players, logistics, cheerleaders, family members, and various badminton stadiums in the Greater Toronto Area participated in the competition.
Training preparations and pre-match interactive competitions promoted the stability and unity of the Chinese community, supported a positive mental outlook, and contributed to the betterment of the Greater Toronto Area. The Mayor of Toronto John Tory delivered a passionate speech. He said that he was very happy to learn that almost all top universities in China formed teams to participate in this competition. He agrees with President Cheng Bin’s philosophy that the Chinese elite not only integrates well into the Canadian family after coming to Canada, but also makes outstanding contributions to the development of Canada’s economy, technology and other fields. He believes that such a large-scale competition will continue to expand the scope of life of the Chinese, and at the same time drive all ethnic groups in Canada to create a more colorful life, and contribute to the establishment of a harmonious society where multi-ethnic groups live together peacefully.
