On January 7, 2017, the Canadian Alumni Union of nearly 50 colleges and universities from the China gathered together in Toronto and successfully hosted the first Canadian Chinese College Alumni Spring Festival Art Evening.
The joint Spring Festival Gala was initiated and hosted by the Toronto Alumni Association of Xi’an Jiaotong University, named by Repower Financial Group, sponsored by Tom Brothers Finance, Bell Canada and other groups and individuals, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Xiamen University, Fuzhou University,and many other colleges and universities co-organized in Toronto with alumni associations. Number of participants ranged up to 800 people, the whole party revolved around the theme of “schoolmates gather together on campus. More than 40 songs and dance programs, the audience applauded, cheersed, and ushered in a new 2017.
Yang Baohua, the head of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Section of the Chinese Consulate General in Toronto, spoke on behalf of the consulate and expressed cordial blessings to overseas Chinese. Canadian Congressman Tan Geng took the stage to give a speech, expressing his congratulations to the first Spring Festival Gala of the University Alliance and New Year’s blessings for overseas students.
President of the Jiaotong University Alumni Association and the chief planner of the party Yang Haijun issued a warm New Year’s greetings and thanked all guests and various universities for their great cooperation, The party chief Zhao Guoqiang gave a speech and expressed his gratitude to the sponsors and chief director Wang Xiaoning’s party director team, all the party’s cast and crew, stage director Gong Anmin and other staff, as well as all volunteers such as Wang Yuexiang and Wang Yong for their hard work.
Any art show cannot be separated from the hard work of the volunteers. From the front and back of the sound team, stage team, etc., there would be no success of the party without them. I would like to express my sincere thanks to them.
